Aston Martin One-77 wins design award
The Aston Martin One-77 took home the Concorso d’Eleganza Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes at its world debut near Lake Como in Italy over the weekend, it has been announced.
It took more than 30 per cent of the total votes from members of the public attending the event, beating seven other entries from around the globe.
Dr Ulrich Bez, chief executive of the marque, said the One-77 has proven to be the most desirable automotive art from at its first public outing.
Speaking after the award was announced, he commented: "We have achieved a new level of design and craftsmanship which has been clearly recognised by the public here in the homeland of design at Villa d’Este."
Marek Reichman, Aston Martin design director, described the vehicle as "a benchmark" in automotive design.
The One-77 was initially announced in September 2008 and is powered by a 7.3-litre V12 engine.
