Fiat scoops industry award
In news which may be of interest to those buying car bulbs and window wipers, vehicle manufacturer Fiat has scooped another industry award in recognition of its in-car eco:Drive system.
Available free of charge, it helps motorists to monitor how their driving style impacts fuel consumption and the environment.
The system will receive the Fleet Environmental Award at 2009 Fleet World Honours in London today.
Fleet World editor Ken Rogers said Fiat should be justifiably proud of its achievements and revealed that the firm had been nominated for the award by the Energy Saving Trust.
"The Fiat range is especially attractive to younger drivers and the eco:Drive programme will ensure that they form environmentally sound driving habits from an early age," he added.
Fiat models include the Panda, Punto, Bravo, Quebo an Multipa.
Meanwhile, drivers looking to snap up a new vehicle may be able to claim a £2,000 discount if they have a vehicle over ten years of age, as part of the government’s new scrappage scheme.

All car manufacturers are milking the eco factor to sell cars these days. Performance doesn’t even get a look in!
@Paul: It’s not all about eco for the consumers. No matter how eco your car is, if it hasn’t got good construction quality or decent performance, it will its second owner in the first or second year. Look at the Grande Punto (that’s what is called here in Portugal, dunno what’s it called there
) 1.2lts…. I’ve seen way too many being sold for 90% the price, just because it just is no good. Too slow on highways and too weak on the city…
P.S.: I just love FIAT
