Commuters ‘save time’ at half-term
Car bulb customers driving to work this week can enjoy a few extra minutes in bed because of the school holidays, it has been revealed.
Research by car insurance provider Elephant.co.uk found that the average commuter will reach work 12 minutes faster this week, with some drivers saving as much as an hour per day.
The half-term break means there will be around 20 per cent fewer vehicles on the road during rush-hour.
Commenting on the findings, the company’s managing director Brian Martin said: "12 minutes might not sound like much time, but when you add those 12 minutes up over all the school holidays. It equates to an awful lot of extra time you can enjoy at home, rather than being stuck in the car."
Drivers in London can expect to shave the most time off their journeys, with traffic flowing much better around the capital this week.
In other motoring news, the government launched its new car scrappage scheme last week – a move which could see an increase in the number of new cars on the roads.
