Toyota pioneers use of ecological plastic

Car bulb customers may be interested to learn that Toyota is pioneering the use of ecological plastic in its new Prius model.

The moulded material is derived from plant matter and the manufacturer is planning to use it across other model ranges in the future.

"There are two types of ecological plastic: one produced entirely from plant stuffs and another manufactured from a combination of plant and petroleum-based materials," Toyota said.

The plastic meets the heat and shock requirements for use in vehicle interiors and can be adapted to create the necessary strength and durability for different parts.

Toyota’s latest Prius model features sleek LED brake lights, an advanced regenerative braking system and push-button start.

Inside, it boasts a spacious cabin with an elegant central display, integrated leather wheel and intelligent park assist.

Road tax for the environmentally friendly vehicle starts from as little as £15.
