Hyundai i20 achieves 5-star Ncap rating

The Hyundai i20 supermini has been awarded five stars under Ncap’s new rating system.

Scoring "exceptionally" well in all categories – adult occupancy, child protection, pedestrian protection and safety assist – the car has set a "new standard in the supermini segment".

The vehicle scored six out of seven in the safety assist category and was awarded top marks for its seatbelt reminder feature and Electronic Stability Programme.

In addition, the car scored an impressive 41 points out of a possible 49 for child safety, beating all other vehicles in its class, as well as several mini-MPVs such as the Citroen C3 Picasso.

Allan Rushforth, vice president of Hyundai Motors Europe, said the five-star rating is recognition of the company’s commitment to providing customers with top-class safety features.

"Across our range we offer exceptional levels of life-saving equipment as standard, and we continue to research and develop new ways to protect drivers and occupants of Hyundai cars," he added.

Other vehicles manufactured by Hyundai include the i30, Sonata and Matrix.

I hardly believe that Hyundai has produced the safest car in its class, but considering all the progress they have made over the last couple of years this was something that would likely happen sooner or later.

By the way, I’m the owner of new Hyundai i20. I like it, it quality built and saves me on fuel. Go Hyundai! ;)

    Cheers, Hyundai fan
