Littlehampton motorists seek to protect window wiper blades

Car owners in a street in Littlehampton are facing a slightly different threat to their vehicles and windscreen wiper blades.

The Littlehampton Gazette reports that motorists parking in Knightscroft Avenue in Rushington have discovered their cars have been attacked by a large black crow. Damage has included two cracked windscreens as well as various unwanted pecking of wiper blades.

In some cases, people have resorted to protecting their window wipers by wrapping them in an assortment of plastic bags, towels and cardboard tubes to deter the bird.

Local resident Sue Pyle said: "I have had to fork out £50 excess for a new windscreen replacement.

"What with that and the cost of the replacement wipers for both of our cars, this crow’s strange habits are getting beyond a joke!"

Last year, residents in Weston-super-Mare were targeted by a crow that also showed a strong interest in windscreen wipers, according to the Daily Mail.

I think this happened to me. I was in Littlehampton recently and when I got back to my car the windscreen had a crack.

Just came accross this article while i was looking for something else and just had to comment on it. How amazing that a bird would be interested in wiper blades. Perhaps it had a bad experience and is trying to get his own back!

I just love article like this…well worth the read. Why would a bird fancy eating a wiper blade, Godonly knows. Very funny all the same.
