Study launched in response to scrappage scheme

A new database is being developed to help enable car companies to take advantage of the recent car scrappage allowance.

Scientia Data has launched a new prospect file called Active Auto 10-year that will profile people who qualify for the £2,000 scrappage incentive, reports Marketingdirectmag.co.uk.

The company claims that it already has 1.1 million records of people who have owned a pre-1999 vehicle for at least 12 months and have favourable credit scores.

Scientia Data’s managing director Dawn Orr, explained: "With new car sales slumping by over 30 per cent since January, we were approached by several clients wanting a bespoke combination of vehicle registration information, transactional data and credit scoring in order to boost sales."

The data will provide information about potential car buyers from across the UK and include their postal, email, telephone and mobile contact information.

According to the government, reaction to the new scrappage scheme has been largely positive, with figures suggesting that around 35,000 car sales have been achieved as a result of the £2,000 subsidy.
