New magazine launched for motorists with disabilities

Motorists searching for car bulbs and wiper blades may be interested to learn that a new magazine has been launched for disabled drivers.

Published by the Highways Agency, My Way aims to help road users "stay safe and keep moving".

The magazine contains up-to-date information on road conditions, as well as advice on journey planning and coping with emergency situations.

Nicky Ensert, diversity manager for the Highways Agency, said the organisation is working to understand the barriers that the trunk road network presents for motorists with disabilities.

"For example, we have a long-term programme to improve access to and across the trunk road network – in developing this, a key strand has been consultation with disability groups who have helped us to establish priorities," she added.

The magazine, which can be downloaded from the Highways Agency website, also features an emergency advice card which can be kept inside the vehicle.

In other safety related news, the government launched a new drink-driving campaign last month. Road safety minister Jim Fitzpatrick said that 200 people die while intoxicated behind the wheel every summer.ADNFCR-2370-ID-19208163-ADNFCR
