Motorists warned over driving abroad
British motorists have been warned to ensure they have adequate car insurance cover before driving abroad this summer.
Research carried out by Sheila’s Wheels revealed that 15 per cent of drivers damage their car while travelling outside the UK.
A third of those surveyed admitted they have driven illegally in Europe, by failing to make car headlight adjustments and carry a warning triangle.
According to the study, around ten per cent of Brits plan to drive their car on the continent over the summer.
Jackie Brown, a spokesperson for the organisation, said it is essential that motorists plan ahead and take out adequate insurance cover.
"It’s also vital that motorists do their research beforehand by making sure they understand the basic rules and regulations for driving on foreign roads," she commented.
In related news, a recent survey by Protyre found that 60 per cent of Britons are set to holiday in the UK this year, with three-quarters of people planning to drive to their destination.
