AA: Most parked cars get damaged

Research published this week by the AA revealed that eight in ten motorists have had their vehicle damaged in a car park.

Moreover, nearly 1,000 of the 8,800 motorists surveyed said they would drive away from the scene if they hit another vehicle.

Two-thirds of people said they would leave a note, with women found to be more honest than their male counterparts.

Drivers aged between 55 and 64 are the most likely to own up to an incident.

Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, said: "Because it would affect their no claim bonus, many people wouldn’t bother to claim for a small dink unless it was caused by someone else and they could claim against them."

Meanwhile, insurance provider Admiral revealed last week that rear-end bumps account for one in four accidents, costing approximately £500 million annually.

The company also revealed that the percentage of Brits involved in road incidents has been rising steadily in recent years.
