Ford Ka 'sells half a million'

More than half a million Brits have purchased Ford Ka models since they were launched, it has been revealed.

According to car manufacturer Ford, the car is appealing due to its low running costs, eye-catching design and "fun-to-drive" personality.

The first Ka rolled off the production line in 1996. Today, the model is the leader of its market segment, with a 14 per cent share.

Ford spokesman Mark Simpson commented: "There were eight competitors in the Ka’s market segment in 1996 – now there are 26 rivals. Offering low ownership costs and cheeky distinctive styling, the Ka has maintained its strong appeal over the years."

Those shopping for car bulbs and wiper blades may be interested to learn that more than 11,000 new Ka models have been sold since its launch in January, with black being the most popular colour.

Other models currently manufactured by Ford include the Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, C-Max and Mondeo.

I can see why its selling that high, when my own friend (19 yrs old) is actually saving up to buy one. To actually start saving to buy a brand new car at that age shows that this thing has alot of desirability.

I think that the new design of Ford Ka is a nice looking smaller car. It’s also economical enough to run so it’s no surprise that it’s selling well.
