George Michael was spotted with his car headlights on full beam and "driving like a madman" before he crashed his Range Rover, according to one lorry driver.

Sean Strong, 36, from Scunthorpe in Lincolnshire, told the Daily Mirror that the singer sped past him and slammed his £80,000 vehicle into the back of a seven-tonne truck on the A34 outside Newbury, Berkshire.

"[Michael] was all over the road – he was driving like crazy," he said.

"He swerved past my artic so closely that he just missed me. He was shouting and screaming at the passenger seat."

The 46-year-old former Wham! star, who was seen weaving across lanes, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs but later released.

He said in a statement that the reason he was not charged was because he was "stone-cold sober".

Michael has sold over 80 million records worldwide during his career.
