Brits 'plan UK bank holiday road trips'

Written by Matthew Davies

The majority of Britons are planning to stay in the UK over the August bank holiday weekend and travel to some of the most exciting attractions around, according to new data from Total.

More than half (56 per cent) of these people will be jumping in their cars to reach their destination, meaning that the roads could be filled with more vehicles than usual, the energy company explained.

The firm identified a number of top attractions in the UK for the long weekend, including Alton Towers, Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Thorpe Park, the latter of which is home to rides include Colossus, Nemesis Inferno and Tidal Wave.

Total urged people to be prepared for their journeys and not forget items such as umbrellas and mobile phone chargers. Spare car bulbs could also be a wise addition to the glove box in case an existing bulb breaks and motorists are left in the dark.ADNFCR-2370-ID-19335787-ADNFCR

Spare car bulbs are not a random item, infact they are a requirement on the continent. It can be very dangerous driving on dark roads with compromised lighting, especially on roads you are not familiar with.

You MUST carry a set of spare bulbs plus a warning triangle and hi-vis vests in France – you can be fined if you do not. It applies to motorbikes as well as cars.
