Those looking to buy car headlights might be intrigued to read that the UK has one of the worst uninsured driving records, which is has only been made worse by the recession, one motoring expert has asserted.
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at UK general insurance organisation the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA), said that it is a concern that so many young people are uninsured.
His comments follow the publication of research from the Motor Insurers’ Bureau, which found that around 250,000 people between the ages of 17 and 20 are estimated to be driving without insurance.
"There are lots of things that young drivers can do to keep their costs down, but what they must do is get insurance – small dash if not, the likelihood is that they are going to get caught," stated Mr Trudgill.
He added that the introduction of a new system of enforcement in 2011 should make it extremely difficult to have a vehicle and not have insurance.

We are a driving school based in Surrey in the UK, about 2 weeks ago i was hit by an uninsured driver, when i got out of the car to take his details he ran off !!!! Later it transpired that he had infact been banned for driving other than in accordance, so he had lost his licence but still carried on driving I am still waiting for my money back.
