Those looking to purchase a new pair of car windscreen wiper blades might be interested to learn that the pinch on car hire in Spain has not hit the bigger resorts on the mainland such as Madrid, Barcelona or Alicante due to savvy shopping and the boom in all-inclusive resorts, according to one travel expert.
Frances Tuke, spokeswoman for the Association of British Travel Agents, which represents over 5,000 agencies and almost 1,000 tour operators across the UK, said that the car hire industry is staying afloat in the country due to a fair number of tourists continuing to visit.
Her comments follow the publication of the recent news that British holidaymakers have been complaining of being overcharged or stranded without car hire in some Mediterranean resorts following a reduced availability of vehicles this summer.
"In Barcelona and Alicante, there is the market for second homes with Brits," Ms Tuke pointed out.
