Motorists who opt for LED car bulbs because they are a greener option than standard lighting options may want to check out an upcoming eco-driving event.
The MPG Marathon is due to take place on September 30th and October 1st and is designed to highlight the benefits of fuel-efficient techniques behind the wheel.
Ford has announced it will be entering its fastest-ever European production auto in the 2009 event.
The drivers of the 2.5-litre Focus RS will be aiming to achieve more than 35 mpg over the 360-mile course.
Motoring journalist Jeremy Walton and teammate Alyson Marlow will take the wheel of the Ford model.
"I’m setting out to prove you can use an efficient high-performance car in daily driving without enormous fuel bills," Mr Walton stated.
Meanwhile, Joe Durkin – a 17-year-old apprentice marine engineer from Falmouth – will be attempting to demonstrate how fuel-efficient the Chevrolet Aveo can be in the upcoming challenge.
