Used cars ‘may become more affordable’
Written by Richard Sinclair
Motorists who find it is cheaper to buy their autos second-hand and then replace worn items like windscreen wiper blades and car bulbs – rather than purchasing models straight off the production line – may welcome the news used vehicles are expected to start dropping in price.
Valuation expert Glass’s predicted by the end of the year, drivers will be paying between two and four per cent less for older sets of wheels than they are at the moment.
It acknowledged this decrease may not seem much in light of the fact some models have gone up in price by 30 per cent over the course of the last 12 months.
However, the group suggested it may still be welcomed by drivers in the market for a second-hand motor.
Managing editor Adrian Rushmore said: "The balance of power may be starting to shift from seller to buyer."
He added: "The market is not set to destabilise, but there is now the threat of price falls for the first time this year."
Meanwhile, Used Car Expert magazine recently reported that second-hand dealers have not been passing on the full rising cost of vehicles to their customers.

used cars offered fifty to eighty percent off the retail price.. this is much practical compared when we are buying new car model with high price..
Purchasing a car through a dealership face to face is a pain I know. Also if the sales person is you think giving you the wrong information at home you can always not reply to him and then go check it out yourself. These are the joys of purchasing a used car that people forget although there are alot more ways such as car auctions and looking through newspapers.
Really like this post. Overhere, used cars are also offered fifty to eighty percent off the retail price. The only problem is, you pay a lot of taxes here
This is a good tip though, thnx!
