Drivers ‘need to look under the bonnet’
Written by Fiona Birkwood
Motorists who regularly check their car bulbs and windscreen wiper blades are in good working order may be well advised to look under the bonnet every now and again, if comments from one automotive group are anything to go by.
According to the Good Garage Scheme, it is vital drivers look after their engines properly if they want to avoid a hefty repair bill.
In a bid to encourage more motorists to pay attention to this crucial car part, the organisation has launched a campaign called Check Your Oil.
Technical manager Phil Dugmore said it is important to be vigilant about basic vehicle maintenance.
He explained: "Many motorists simply forget to check their oil level and by the time the oil warning light comes on, a lot of the damage has already been done."
Meanwhile, Castrol launched a trial in London recently intended to advise drivers on the best products for their particular cars.
Speed cameras identify passing autos and a billboard further down the road then displays the most suitable oil for that specific make and model.

Some drivers do not have at least basic knowledge of troubleshooting. As a result, it delays their travel. Its good to have at least basic knowledge coz most problems are just minor things that can be fixed an in a snap.
