Eagle eye-shaped car lights contribute to the stylish appearance of the updated Vauxhall Astra, it has been claimed.

The manufacturer stated the headlamps blend seamlessly with the auto’s "graceful flowing silhouette".

It also pointed out the clusters boast prominent daytime running lights that have been designed in a wing shape.

As well as looking good, Vauxhall said the headlamps are also technologically advanced.

It explained the lights automatically change intensity depending on prevailing road and driving conditions.

Marketing director Andy Gilson predicted the high-spec nature of the car would appeal to a range of different motorists.

He stated: "The Astra aims to attract a new group of buyers – those who may never have considered a Vauxhall before."

The auto is priced from £15,675 and is due to arrive in UK showrooms in December.

Meanwhile, it was previously reported that a number of British police forces intend to make use of the revised model.
