Autumn may be ideal time to replace worn wiper blades and car bulbs

Now could be the perfect time for motorists to replace worn windscreen wiper blades and car bulbs, if comments from one company are anything to go by.

Accident Exchange has warned October is one of the most dangerous times of the year in terms of traffic collisions.

It revealed the firm dealt with more accidents during this month last year than in any other period throughout 2008.

The group put this down to wet, leaf-covered roads making surfaces slippery.

Spokesman Gordon Grant said: "October delivers some of the worst driving conditions of the year as the weather changes and the clocks go back, but drivers continue as if … in the summer months."

The company pointed out stopping distances can double on wet surfaces.

Meanwhile, replacing worn windscreen wiper blades and car bulbs can help to ensure motorists have the best possible view of the road, regardless of weather conditions.
