Drivers ‘appreciate a flash of car lights’

When someone lets you into a queue of traffic, it might be a good idea to flash your car lights or give some other sign that the gesture is appreciated, if a recent survey is anything to go by.
A poll of AA members found 41 per cent of motorists are irritated by other road users who fail to say thank you.
Of those questioned, 46 per cent of women and 37 per cent of men said a lack of manners drove them round the bend.
AA president Edmund King claimed it does not matter how people demonstrate gratitude but if they do, it helps to make being behind the wheel a more pleasant experience for everyone.
He stated: "Lorry drivers tend to flash their hazard lights and others raise their hand to acknowledge the good manners of other drivers."
Meanwhile, keen to avoid accidents this winter may want to ensure car headlamps are in tip-top condition before the clocks go back and the evenings get significantly darker.
