Motorists who know where to go for the best deals on car bulbs and windscreen wiper blades may find they can save even more money by choosing the colour of their auto wisely.

According to Carsite.co.uk, models in popular shades like black often achieve higher prices when they are traded in than vehicles with more unusual finishes.

The retailer made this comment in light of a recent poll it conducted that found pink is the most undesirable colour for a car.

Brown, gold, lilac and lime were also a turn-off for many motorists.

However, spokesman for the website Alistair Jeff pointed out some second-hand models will always be popular, regardless of their finish.

"Those who have invested in pink versions of small and funky cars like the Nissan Figaro, Ford Streetka or MINI should have no problem attracting buyers," he stated.

In other news, the online retailer recently named the Mazda MX-5 the best used car of the noughties.
