Mazda car lights 'focused on safety'

Written by Fiona Birkwood

Car lights that direct their beams in the direction the driver is turning are an important part of Mazda’s plans to ensure their upcoming autos are as safe as possible, it has been revealed.

The manufacturer explained it is keen to ensure its customers are afforded as much protection as possible – and adaptive front lighting is one way it hopes to achieve this.

It claimed the system – which means headlamps can be swivelled up to 15 degrees to the left or right – greatly improves visibility.

Currently, the technology is available as standard on some Mazda6 models and as a factory-installed option on a number of Mazda3 cars and all of the group’s MPVs.

The company said it is increasing focus on safety-related parts as it works towards an accident-free future.

In other news, the manufacturer claimed its European car sales were better than expected last month – largely as a result of the popularity of the Mazda3.

Not sure it will make a massive difference but an interesting idea. I suppose every little bit helps, so if it makes it slightly safer then why not.
