Cars that drive themselves ‘could be a reality within a decade’

Motorists who thought automatic car lights and windscreen wiper blades were impressive may be blown away by a new EU project.
A venture – known as Sartre – has been launched to develop technology for vehicles that will be capable of driving themselves in road trains on motorways.
Researchers have suggested the vision could become a reality within a decade and it has been suggested the new system of transportation will help cut accidents, improve traffic flow, lower fuel consumption and reduce CO2 emissions.
Erik Coelingh, technical director of Active Safety Functions at Volvo, commented: "This type of autonomous driving actually doesn’t require any hocus-pocus technology and no investment in infrastructure.
"Instead, the emphasis is on development and on adapting technology that is already in existence."
Meanwhile, drivers who prefer vintage vehicles to futuristic models may want to attend this year’s Classic Motor Show.
Organisers recently claimed there will be a range of antique autos available to buy at next month’s event.

Yeah. I guess it is also important to make a reality check everyone now and then.
Really interesting. I guess all of us should be all looking forward for the future of cars. You can also find interesting information by visiting my site at http://thecarlover.com
