Motorists 'spend hours staring through windscreens'

British motorists are going nowhere fast for 13 weeks of their working lives, remaining stuck in traffic jams and left staring at their windscreen wipers, figures show.

Each year frustrated commuters spend nearly 50 hours in congestion on British roads, the survey by Kia Motors reveals.

Queues affect nearly three-quarters of drivers who use their cars to get to work, with the average journey lasting 47 minutes.

Not all of this is spent in motion though, with 12 minutes spent either crawling below 5mph or at a standstill.

The Cleaner Driving Report also revealed that many Brits still grow angry when they hit traffic, despite it being a regular problem, and nearly half say congestion makes them regularly late for work.

Despite this, most are reluctant to change their ways, even though their regular commute could become even more hazardous as winter sets in.

Motorists have been urged to ensure their vehicles, from windscreen wipers and headlights to tyres and heating, are in good, working order.ADNFCR-2370-ID-19436359-ADNFCR
