Skoda UK has announced that Guy Wilks, the double British Rally champion, will compete in the final event of the 2009 Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) series.

Wilks, 28, from Darlington will drive a Skoda Fabia Super 2000, run by Rene George Rally Sport, at this year’s Rally of Scotland.

The concept car Skoda Fabia Super 2000 was presented for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2007.

He is set to go head-to-head with fellow British rally driver Kris Meeke, this year’s winner of the IRC.

The drivers will have to follow their car headlights around the Rally of Scotland’s 13 challenging stages on both tarmac and gravel, starting on Thursday November 19th in Perth and finishing at Stirling Castle on Saturday November 21st.

"This is a great opportunity for me and I’m really looking forward to driving for Skoda UK. The fact that we are competing on home soil in front of the British fans makes it a really special occasion and I’ll definitely be going all out for the win." said Wilks.ADNFCR-2370-ID-19447841-ADNFCR
