Cost is 'main cause' of couples' arguments when buying a car

Couples buying a car together can argue over every detail, from the colour to the shape of the car lights, but the biggest cause of contention is the price, according to recent research.

Online used car retailer carsite.co.uk, found that in over a quarter of cases, money was the main factor couples argued over when choosing a new car.

Carsite’s Alistair Jeff said that as the country is still not out of the recession, large purchases, such as a new vehicle, are more closely scrutinised.

"Many household budgets are still tight, and when it comes to buying a car, it’s one of the biggest investments a couple can make together. So it’s perhaps no surprise that money is the biggest cause of contention in the car buying process," said Mr Jeff.

Last month Toyota advised motorists planning on buying a new car that they could save money by doing so before January 1st, when the VAT rate returns to 17.5 per cent.ADNFCR-2370-ID-19466376-ADNFCR
