1 in 6 youngsters have ‘driven while drunk or on drugs’
Writtan by Tom Benjamin.
Nearly 30 per cent of young people have admitted to drink or drug driving or being a passenger of a young drink or drug driver, according to a road safety charity.
The figures, from Brake, which is behind Road Safety Week, also show that one in six young drivers admit to drink driving and one in 15 young drivers admit to drug driving, often combining drugs and drink before driving.
As part of Road Safety Week, Brake has issued guidance on drink and drug driving.
The charity advises people that are driving to not even drink a drop or take one drag of a joint or any other illegal drug, as this can make driving as dangerous, if not more, than driving at night with broken car bulbs.
Drivers are also advised to make sure they have plenty of time to sober up in the morning as people can often still be over the legal limit if they have had a heavy night of drinking the night before.

That’s a shocking statistic. And pretty worrying if that many people are drink driving and getting away with it.
