Motor racing events return to Knockhill
Written by Richard Sinclair.
The car lights of motor racing vehicles will be seen whizzing around the Knockhill Racing Circuit next year as the Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship and the ELF Renault Clio Cup with Michelin return to the track.
Both series are to return to the Dunfermline track on September 4th and 5th after an absence of four years.
In 2006 Sebastian Hohenthal and Sam Bird won the Formula Renault UK honours and Paul Rivett and Tom Onslow-Cole were victorious in the Clio Cup.
Andrew Kirkaldy, 2002 Clio Cup vice-champion, who now runs Formula Renault UK team CRS Racing, said: "It’s good to be returning to the circuit after so long as it’s a great track and is always well attended by the fans which adds to the atmosphere."
He added that the circuit has changed for the better since he last raced there in the Clio Cup, meaning fans can get a "good view of the action from virtually anywhere".
Racing car experience days are available at the Knockhill Racing Circuit where budding car racers can see what it is like to sit behind the wheel of a Formula One-style car, a ‘pocket rocket’ or a rally car.
