New Astra features 'automatic' front fog car lights and windscreen wiper blades

The retail launch of the new British-built Vauxhall Astra, which comes with front fog car bulbs, is taking place today (December 11th).

Vauxhall’s Astra went on sale in September, but today is the day that customers will receive the keys and be able to drive their new vehicle.

The five-door hatchback has a range of five petrol and three diesel engines and is available from £15,695.

Rain-sensitive windscreen wiper blades are one of the many features of the new car. These switch on automatically when they sense rain on the windscreen. The speed of the wipers even adjusts depending on the level of rainfall.

As well as front fog lights, the vehicle has automatic lighting control. Two light sensors, located in the windscreen, register darkness and automatically activate and deactivate the dipped beam car headlight bulbs when necessary.

The engine efficiency of the Astra has improved by more than 13 per cent so drivers can enjoy both lower fuel bills and reduced carbon dioxide emissions.ADNFCR-2370-ID-19508734-ADNFCR
