Rare Porsche, with original car headlights, goes on sale

A 1974 Porsche Carrera RS which is one of only six right hand drive examples ever made and still has all of its original features, including car head lights, has gone on sale in the UK.

Porsche made half a dozen examples of the right hand drive Porsche 911 3.0 litre Carrera RS as part of its RSR homologation process.

Lord Hesketh, previous owner of the Hesketh Formula One team, bought the vehicle and gave it to racing driver James Hunt in 1974.

Hunt used the car until 1976, when he won the Formula One Championship. He retired from racing in 1979 and died in 1993 of a heart attack.

Nick Whale, of Warwickshire-based Nick Whale Sports Cars Direct, which is selling the vehicle, said: "This car is clearly an important piece of motoring history. Hunt was an enigmatic champion, and this car was with him during the peak of his career."

The vehicle is on sale for £365,000 and, according to Mr Whale, has "great investment potential".
