An electric car with a flat battery could have its car lights up and running again in as little as 15 minutes, according to electric vehicle manufacturer Think.

The company announced recently that it is to work with AeroVironment Incorporated, which develops and supplies electric vehicle charging infrastructures, to create a faster charging system in the US.

Using the advanced system, a Think City will go from completely depleted to 80 per cent charged in just a quarter of an hour.

"For electric vehicles to achieve broad adoption as a practical alternative to gasoline-powered cars, safe, reliable and accessible charging infrastructure is necessary," said Michael Bissonette, senior vice-president and general manager of AeroVironments efficient energy systems business segment.

Last month, delegates at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen were supplied with 60 Citroen C1 evie electric cars to get around the city and to and from the conference venues.ADNFCR-2370-ID-19585074-ADNFCR
