Dont risk car light damage with makeshift de-icing tools

As more snow and ice is due to hit the country in the coming days and weeks, drivers are being reminded of the importance of good car care.
During the last spell of wintry weather, many motorists were turning to items such as credit cards, CD cases, hair dryers and spades to defrost their car lights and windows, reveals Glasss Guide.
These measures increase the risk of causing damage to the vehicle, which could impair visibility in the long-term.
"They risk incurring significant costs for rectification to mistreated glass, paintwork and body panels or even reducing the desirability and value of their cars," commented Andy Carroll, managing director at Glasss.
He urges car owners to think carefully about looking after their vehicles over winter, especially as not everyone realises what steps they should take to ensure they are safe to head onto the roads.
As well as clearing windscreens, car lights, side windows and mirrors should also be free from ice and snow.
