Jeff Koons to create BMW Art Car

Jeff Koons is to be the next in a distinguished line of artists that have created a BMW Art Car – painting all but the glass and car lights of the vehicles.
The Art Car programme is now in its 35th year and Koons customised vehicle will be revealed later in 2010.
Details of the BMW model that will be used are to be released over the coming months.
"I always thought it would be an honour to work on a BMW Art Car, I look forward to participating in a tradition set forth by such great artists as Calder, Lichtenstein, Stella and Warhol," Koons said.
Frank-Peter Arndt, member of the Board of Management for the BMW AG and responsible for BMW Groups international cultural formats, said BMW was "enormously pleased" that Jeff Koons is taking part in the programme.
Last month, BMW Group was named Greenest Manufacturer of the Year 2009 by eco-motoring website Green-Car-Guide.com.
