More customers could buy car bulbs online, it is suggested

Increasing numbers of people are purchasing vehicles on the internet, which could see online demand for wiper blades and car lights increase.

This is according to research from Which? Car, which discovered that 12 of the 14 most popular new cars can be found online for cheaper than in dealerships.

According to the consumer group, buying cars online is a "win-win situation" because, in addition to larger discounts, motorists can benefit from improved legal protection.

Editor of Which? Car Richard Headland said the internet is "revolutionising" how people shop for cars.

"Not only can buyers find bargain prices online – without haggling with a salesperson – they have better legal rights too," he explained.

"The web has thrown down the gauntlet to traditional bricks-and-mortar car dealerships."

While just five per cent of respondents to the Which? survey said they had purchased their last car online, almost one in five (18 per cent) said they were planning to do so in the future.

Last year, Which? questioned whether most people would pass their driving test if they were to sit it again, with two in five people failing in its snapshot study.ADNFCR-2370-ID-19600599-ADNFCR
