Toyota starts recall repair work

Owners of the Toyota Prius, which has chrome front fog car light contours, and other Toyota models will be waving goodbye to their vehicles as service centres across the UK begin to repair faulty accelerator pedals.
A total of 206 Toyota service centres have started work fixing accelerator pedals on the cars affected by the recall.
The centres staff, who have received specific training in how to repair the problem, now also have the necessary software to update the Prius brake system.
Steve Settle, Toyota GB customer services director, said that the company is doing everything it can to ensure that its customers vehicles are repaired as quickly as possible.
"Toyota service centres will be working extended hours and weekends. As a consequence, they have the combined capacity to repair 6,000 vehicles per day," he explained.
The Toyots Prius is available with an LED technology pack, which includes LED car headlight bulbs, an electrochromatic rear-view mirror and dusk-sensing car lights.

This is bad news for Toyota. Recalling the 2010 Prius for brake glitches tarnishes the reputation of the maker and the model. Hybrids and electric cars are the greenest technology in the mainstream and it’s a shame to see their popularity decreased by these design flaws.
