Failing to turn on indicator car lights before turning is a habit hated by 62 per cent of motorists, according to recent research.

Some 1,000 UK adult motorists were quizzed by ICM on the behalf of Kwik-Fit and it was found that two-thirds of these hated tailgating the most out of all motoring bad habits.

Dangerous overtaking was cited by 57 per cent of those surveyed as a custom that was disliked, where as those who jumped traffic lights were despised by 35 per cent.

David White, customer services director at Kwik-Fit, said: "Motorists need to remember that these arent just annoying, they put the safety of all road users at risk."

He went on to say the only two per cent of those questioned said that nothing annoyed them on the road, "which shows that the vast majority of us can make big improvements in our driver styles", he concluded.

It is possible that those who do not use on their indicator car lights when turning a corner could have broken car bulbs, which is something that all motorists should check for regularly, according to Continental Tyres.ADNFCR-2370-ID-19617934-ADNFCR
