Check car lights work for safer fog driving, motorists advised

Motorists should check that their car lights work before they set off during foggy weather, JSF Driving School has warned.
This advice comes as the Met Office issues severe winter weather warnings for a number of regions across the UK.
London, south-east England, Wales and many other regions are expected to experience heavy snowfall at some point today (February 18th).
Many of the same rules apply to driving in fog as they do to driving in snow. JSF said motorists should slow down and allow extra time for their journeys in both these conditions.
The driving school recommends avoiding making a journey when it is foggy, but if this is not possible than motorists should make good use of their wiper blades to check their windscreens are clear.
When it is foggy during the day, drivers should dip their front car lights and fog lights rather than just using their side lights, as this provides greater visibility but will not dazzle pedestrians or other motorists.

What snow we had aswel, it was terrible me and my family were stuck in it for about 12 hours,we turned off onto a country road and it started snowing so heavily it came from no where the next thing we knew we could not drive and were stuck in thick snow you could not see in front of you even with bright headlights as it was coming down to thick, so we parked up and waited for the snow to stop, then once it had we went on our way, with hardly any luck at all. It was lucky I drive a four wheeled drive range rover otherwise I think we would still be there now !!!!
The weather was terrible this year I thought it would never stop thank god it did, lights are vital when the weather is bad
