Cleaning car lights and tyres? Use pressure washer with caution

Recent cold and wet weather has caused dirt to collect on car light casings, but the gritting and salting of the roads has left the wheel arches and undersides of UK vehicles caked in corrosive debris, according to mytyres.co.uk.
The web-based tyre retailer said that using pressure washers to clean car tyres incorrectly can cause further damage.
It recommends using a light to medium-duty pressure washer (110 bar or less) and keeping the washer nozzle at least 20 cm from the tyres surface.
The website also advised motorists to always use a fan nozzle rather than a circular nozzle and to avoid prolonged jet washing of any one area of the tyre.
Its final piece advice was to avoid aiming the water jet at the join between the tyre and wheel rim.
Earlier this week, website mynews.in advised motorists to look at their car lights and, if they looked "foggy", to wash them with soap and water and allow to dry before driving.
