IAM advises motorists how to save cash on fuel

In response to the planned fuel duty increase, the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) is advising motorists of ways to cut their bank holiday fuel bills, which may be of interest to those who know where to get the cheapest car bulbs but want to save even more cash.

People planning on making long journeys this coming weekend to visit friends or relatives for Easter may want to consider looking well ahead and slowing down earlier instead of always using their brakes as this will help fuel to last for longer.

Peter Rodger, chief examiner at the IAM, said: "A rise as little as 1p per litre will quickly add up.

"A smoother driving style is the single best eco-driving tip. Good economical driving starts with safer driving and anticipation."

The IAM also recommends sticking to 70mph, instead of 80mph, as this can save around four pence per mile.

Earlier this month, the IAM published its Road Safety Manifesto for the upcoming election, in which it called for support from all political parties to promote driver and rider safety on the UKs roads.ADNFCR-2370-ID-19694085-ADNFCR
