Vauxhall wins award for car light system

Vauxhall has received insurance company Allianz Genius 2010 award for its Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL+) car lights system, which improves driver safety.
Rita Forst, vice president global vehicle engineering at Vauxhall, accepted the award yesterday in Leipzig.
AFL+ increases the drivers visibility and optimises illumination of the roadside in such a way that does not blind oncoming traffic.
Allianz claimed that the system considerably reduces the risk of accidents taking place at dusk and night time.
"We were the first car maker to bring AFL – the combination of dynamic xenon curve light and static cornering light – to the market back in 2002," explained Ms Forst.
She went on to say that AFL+, which has been on the Vauxhall Insignia since 2008, is the most advanced lighting system in the world.
Earlier this month, the Vauxhall Corsavan, which is available with special car lights for driving in foggy conditions, won top prize in the best Car Derived Van category of online magazine iVans 2010 awards.
