Subaru develops unique safety device

Drivers no longer have to rely on their car lights to help them avoid collisions on the roads at night, as Subaru has developed a unique safety device that uses camera technology.
The New EyeSight system uses two forward-facing cameras that are mounted either side of the rear-view mirror.
These cameras detect potential collisions with vehicles in front and cause an alarm to sound so as to warn the driver to brake.
If the speed difference between the drivers vehicle and that in front is below 30 km/h, and if the driver does not take and action when the alarm sounds, the system will automatically slow or stop the car.
The New EyeSight advanced driver assistance system will be available on Japanese production cars from the middle of this month.
Last month, Subaru announced that its Impreza WRX, which has a rear wiper blade and daytime-running car lights, was available with complimentary optional upgrades worth over £3,200.
