Smart cars to entertain crowds during World Cup

Now that the World Cup is up and running, eight smart cars are preparing to flash their car lights and entertain the crowds at Mercedes-Benz World in a number of automotive soccer matches.

Four white smart cars adorned with red crosses are to take on other models from around the world in a number of matches on a specially created pitch.

Each match features two five-minute halves and a penalty shoot out, all under the watchful eye of a referee, equipped with giant red and yellow cards.

Andrew Mallery, commercial operations director at Mercedes-Benz Cars, said: "Live commentary will keep supporters on top of all the action as the two teams of smart cars dribble and shoot a giant sized football into the goal."

The matches are to take place over the next few weekends – at 12:30 BST on June 19th, 20th, 26th 27th and July 10th.
