Skoda UK announces record sales

Skoda UK has announced record sales for the first half of 2010, with its best selling model being the Octavia, which has Xenon car bulbs.

In the first six months of the year, Skoda sold 23,248 vehicles, regardless of the withdrawal of the governments scrappage scheme.

Robert Hazelwood, Skoda UKs director, explained that the company has sold 61 per cent more cars so far this year than it did in the same period in 2009.

“Taking into account our record order bank of nearly 11,000 cars awaiting delivery to customers, we are tracking towards a record-ever sales result in the UK for 2010,” he added.

Sales of the Octavia rose by 75 per cent on last year and the Roomster experienced an increase of 37 per cent.

The Octavia Estate 1.6 TDI CR GreenLine won the Green Award at this years Practical Caravan Towcar Awards.

Practical Caravan judges commented on the Octavia Estates low emissions and the fact that these help to keep road tax bills low.
