Air-con is most valued in-car feature

Air conditioning is the in-car accessory that most motorists want their vehicles to have, a study has shown.

Research conducted by ExchangeandMart.co.uk found that a whopping 81 per cent think that air-con is essential and would not choose a motor without this feature.

Alarms and immobilisers were also sought-after, with 67 per cent of those quizzed saying these are extremely important.

Some motorists like to have all of the mod-cons in their cars, such as passenger TVs or DVD players, but the survey found that 67 per cent view these as not very important at all.

The website conducted this research having recently teamed up with CAP, a provider of used vehicle values.

Richard Whittles, managing director at CAP, said: "To get the most accurate valuation for a vehicle, you do need to list all accessories and add-on features, as they can often significantly alter the overall value."

Earlier this year, Skoda advised motorists to clean out their air conditioning vents, as these can harbour microbiological growths, which can cause unpleasant odours.
