40 per cent of women can change windscreen wiper blades

When met with the task of replacing old windscreen wiper blades, around 40 per cent of women believe they are up to the job, a study has revealed.
Insurance firm Diamond quizzed 2,500 female motorists and found that they are not as clueless as men may think when it comes to car maintenance.
Nearly three quarters of the women said they know how to check their oil and water levels, whereas two in five can change a wheel.
A further 40 per cent said they were confident enough to jumpstart a car.
Maria McCarthy, author of the Girls' Car Handbook, said: "Female drivers bear the brunt of many a car-related gag, yet our research shows that women are savvier about cars and motoring than many men give them credit for."
Motorists who do not fancy servicing their car themselves should be wary of recent research by Which? that claims most UK garages do not complete vehicle checks to a high standard.
