RoadSafe: MOT must stay at one-per-year

RoadSafe is urging transport minister Mike Penning to make sure that the MOT stays as an annual check-up for vehicles.
The road safety charity claims that the Department for Transport is considering reducing the required frequency of MOTs to fall in line with Europe.
EU law sates that vehicles should have their first test when they are four years old and subsequent tests every two years.
"RoadSafe joins the Tyre Industry Federation, and other campaigners, with a warning to government that extending the period between MOT tests will put lives at risk," said Adrian Walsh, RoadSafe's director.
He went on to say that MOTs are "vital" for picking up on problems that motorists themselves may not notice.
Motorists are supposed to service their cars in between their MOTs, but earlier this month Kwik-Fit research revealed that one in five car owners do not bother doing any vehicle checks before setting off on long journeys.
