DSA to stop publishing driving test routes

Driving test routes are no longer to be published by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), road safety minister Mike Penning announced today (September 8th).
The routes used by each test centre in the UK are currently published online, but this will not be the case when new routes are created in October.
It is thought that this will allow candidates to demonstrate their ability to drive safely on routes that they have not memorised.
"Stopping the publication of test routes will help to make sure that the driving test better reflects realistic driving conditions and will give new drivers the skills and confidence they need to stay safe on the roads," said Mr Penning.
Earlier this month, What Car? suggested that parents should have a couple of driving lessons with a professional instructor before teaching their own children to drive.
The car buyers' guide claimed that this will refresh these adults' memories of the Highway Code as well as bringing them up to date with the newest test.
