Motorists should check car bulbs before the snow hits

Motorists should check that their car bulbs are all functioning correctly this week before the forecasted snow sweeps the country.

This advice has come from the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), which states there are a number of things that car owners should do to prepare for the winter weather.

"Bad weather can strike quickly, and more severely than you expect, so now is the time to give your car a health-check before winter conditions take their toll," said Peter Rodger, the IAM's chief examiner.

He recommends that the best way to check that all car lights are working is to get a friend to observe the lights around the car while they are switched on one at a time.

Earlier this month, the Highways Agency announced that it is more prepared to deal with potential spells of severe weather this winter than it was last year as it has established a strategic salt stock. ADNFCR-2370-ID-800252376-ADNFCR
