Road Safety Week gets underway

This week is Road Safety Week and campaigns are currently underway with the aim of getting all road users to take more care so that accidents can be reduced.
Coordinated by the charity Brake, the week will feature a campaign called Kids Say Slow Down!
A survey of 15,531 nine to 13-year-olds conducted by Brake and business insurance specialist QBE found that 86 per cent of children think drivers go too fast around their homes and schools.
Julie Townsend, campaigns director at Brake, said: "For a society that places so much importance on the safety and wellbeing of our children, it is shocking and unacceptable that so many children die and suffer appalling injuries on our roads."
She went on to say that she was "delighted" that so many people have become involved in highlighting the importance of drivers slowing down to 20mph around schools and homes.
Back in September, research published by Brake revealed that 92 per cent of motorists want the 20mph speed limit to be enforced around all schools.
